Product Manager (m/f/d) – Lubricant Additives

Your Role

As Product Manager, you will take responsibility for the global product portfolio of Metall-Chemie GmbH & Co. KG in the field of lubricant additives. You will operate at the interface between the market and the organisation, working together with Sales, R&D, Application Engineering, Production and Executive Management to drive the further development of our portfolio. This is a strategic key position with high visibility. We are looking for experienced doers who are keen to shape structures, advance topics and make a real impact.


Your Key Responsibilities

Strategic Product and Portfolio Management

  • Responsibility for the development, maintenance and implementation of strategic product and technology roadmaps
  • Active management of the global product portfolio across the entire life cycle
  • Strategic planning and further development of the product segments in close coordination with Executive Management
  • Analysis of the business performance of individual product segments (revenue, margin, market position) and derivation of corresponding recommendations for action

New Product Development (NPD)

  • Overall coordination of the new product process, including stage-gate logic
  • Definition of requirement specifications and business cases for new products
  • Close collaboration with R&D, Application Engineering and Sales on development, testing and market launch

Market and Competitor Analysis

  • Conducting in-depth market, competitor and trend analyses
  • Monitoring of regulatory and technological developments
  • Derivation of concrete measures for portfolio and business development

Marketing & Communications

  • Coordination of the preparation of product documentation (flyers, data sheets, product presentations)
  • Responsibility for product-related content (both technical and marketing-relevant) and coordination of all marketing-relevant matters in cooperation with external agencies
  • Specialist presentations at trade fairs, customer events and conferences

Customer, Sales and Partner Support

  • Technical consulting for international customers in the lubricant industry
  • Support and training for global distribution partners on all technical matters
  • Conducting voice-of-the-customer meetings and regular customer satisfaction analyses
  • Active support of the sales team with key accounts and projects

Your Profile

Professional Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry or Economics; an MBA qualification is desirable
  • At least 10 years of professional experience as a Product Manager or in a comparable role within the specialty chemicals sector, preferably in lubricant additives
  • Excellent knowledge of the lubricant additives market
  • Extensive experience in value-added selling an advantage

Technical Sales Manager (m/f/d) – Lubricant Additives

Regions: North & South America, Asia

To strengthen our international team, we are seeking an experienced Technical Sales Manager (m/f/d) with sound technical expertise in the field of lubricant additives.

Your Responsibilities

  • Technical consulting and support for our international customers in the lubricant industry
  • Advisory services on the selection, application and formulation strategies for lubricant additives
  • Technical support for our global distribution partners, particularly overseas
  • Point of contact for all technical enquiries relating to the product portfolio of Metall-Chemie GmbH & Co. KG
  • Close collaboration with Product Management, Technology, Application Engineering and R&D, as well as Sales Management, on customer projects and product launches
  • Technical support for acquisitions and customer development activities in the focus regions of North and South America as well as Asia
  • Contribution to the preparation of technical presentations, product documentation and training materials for customers, distributors and internal teams
  • Delivery of product training sessions, technical workshops and specialist presentations

Your Profile

Professional Qualifications

  • Completed degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Tribology, Process Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in technical sales or technical consulting for lubricant additives
  • Sound knowledge of lubricant chemistry, additive technologies and formulation strategies
  • Many years of experience in the formulation of industrial lubricants, metalworking fluids (MWF) and/or lubricating greases

Personal & Organisational Skills

  • Strong technical reasoning and advisory skills
  • Independent, structured and solution-oriented working style
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills at an international level

Languages & Mobility

  • Business-fluent English (spoken and written)
  • Additional foreign languages an advantage
  • Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis (approximately 25% of working time)
